I'm so excited to finally be starting a photo blog and I can think of no better way to kick it off than to share a few images from a recent proposal I had the fortune of photographing. Jeremy found me on instagram and reached out to see if I could capture his surprise proposal to his girlfriend Caitlin, who he's been dating for over seven years. I was so honored and stoked to be a part of this huge life moment for them but along with that came a lot of nerves. Having never shot a proposal before, I felt a bit out of my element. Thankfully, the control freak in me quickly took over and I managed not to buckle under the pressure :)
Caitlin and Jeremy are both native Oregonians but Austin has a special place in their hearts thanks to Jeremy's time going to school here as part of his training to become a firefighter. They were going to be in town for a few days and Jeremy decided it'd be the perfect time to propose. With a little less than a week to plan, we got to work on finding a scenic place for the proposal, which just so happened to be Mayfield Park - home of Austin's many peacocks. I spent one of my lunch breaks scoping out the best spot and felt like I hit the jackpot when I stumbled upon a little bench hidden away beneath a giant tree with a view of the lake and the beautiful fall colors.
Jeremy's proposal plan was so thoughtful! He learned to play guitar just so that he could play Caitlin their favorite song and he had put together a video for her to watch, which ended with a shot of Jeremy asking Caitlin's dad for her hand in marriage. She said YES (duh!) and then I crept out of my hiding place behind a giant tree and snapped away. We followed the trail to the main garden and took some photos with the peacocks too. Check the images out below! :)
